It was nice out last Saturday so Auntie Angela and I took the kids to the park while Lars mowed the lawn (Ethan is very afraid of lawnmowers...even when it's a neighbor mowing and Ethan is safely in the house).
Here's Tenley, helping her Daddy finish the mowing...because she's not afraid of anything! She is actually pushing the mower though it's not on. She's a strong little girl.
Tenley also playing in the back yard. They like picking the little flowers and smelling them. That's my excuse for not mowing more frequently!! Actually, spring is barely limping in to Washington and it's just been too rainy to mow regularly.
Now...moving on to their Dr. appointment from yesterday:
Here's Ethan on the scale, they get to stand on the adult scale now. They both did a great job, just got right on up there!
Sorry, these are out of order...clearly this is in the waiting room just before they went in and got weighed. Ethan is reading a chapter book...upside down of course, as we know from earlier posts he prefers his books upside down because it makes for more interesting plot twists!
Here's Tenley, cleaning as usual. She wanted to put all the books back on the shelves and wipe things up with her kleenex. She really likes to be tidy (well...most of the time).
There weren't a lot of opportunities for pictures in the actual exam room. I took pictures of them getting head and height measurements, but either the nurse's arm or Grandma's torso were in the way of actual good pictures...so I'm not posting any of those.
Tenley did really well and wasn't upset about any poking and looking and checking that Dr. Runyon did...but Ethan was NOT a fan of his check-up. I had to sit on the table with him, and then had to hold him and cuddle so the Dr. could look in his ears/nose/mouth. Poor little guy...he's sensitive.
So, developmentally they're doing just fine. Tenley is showing advanced abstract thinking (yay). When we look at books and she sees something that we also have in the house (a ball, a rubber duck, a banana, an apple, etc.) she gets very excited and goes to get the physical item that we have to compare it to what she sees in the book. Apparently this is quite advanced, and she's been doing it for at least a month. Little smarty pants!
They passed their Autism screening, which OBVIOUSLY is a good thing. I've always been worried about it, since I found out I was pregnant...it seems like such a scary thing. So, clearly we're happy about that!
Here are their current stats:
Tenley-
Height: 31.18" (Dr. Runyon says that you double a girl's 18 month height to get her approximate adult height...so Ten looks to be in the 5'2"-5'3" range still)
Weight: 21lbs. She is short and thin, but nothing to be concerned about...just below average.
Ethan-
Height: 32.87" (although he looks a lot taller than that, in my opinion) Adult height for a boy is best measured by doubling their 2 year height apparently, so we don't have a solid read on Ethan yet but the Dr. thinks he'll be taller than Lars.
Weight: 21lbs 6.4oz. So, he's tall and really thin. Again nothing to be concerned about because he's maintained the same general trajectory since birth, but he's almost below the weight curve for boys (like 3rd percentile or something) he's going to be a beanpole. Probably taller than me by the time he's 10!

We're going to go to a garden art/craft show this weekend on Saturday, and possibly the zoo for the first time on Sunday (if the weather is as good as the weather man has been saying all week). So, if those 2 things pan out I should have a ton of great pictures to post next week!
