We went to Hood River, OR

We took the kids to see their Oma (Lars' mom) and Great Grandma Jean last weekend in Hood River, OR. We left on Friday night, the plan being that the kids would sleep the whole way and we'd be all ready to rock on Saturday morning...not the case. They did indeed sleep in the car and were very very well behaved little pumpkins, but woke up both times we stopped at rest stops. They didn't fuss, just sat there awake looking out the windows for about 30 minutes, then back to sleep...then same thing at the 2nd rest stop...then awake again when we got to Oma's at midnight. Well, we thought SURELY they're tired and will go right back to sleep in a strange room, not in their cribs...HA yeah right!! Ethan fell asleep with me cuddling him by around 1:30, but Tenley was having NONE of that. Lars was laying with her and she just wouldn't fall asleep...she'd start to doze off, but if he even made a move (or thought about moving) to get up on the bed, she'd start crying. On and on it went until we finally put her in bed between us...3 people in a double bed, not precisely comfortable. She finally fell asleep at 5:30am. Then both were up and ready to go at 7am!!! We thought FOR SURE they'd take an early, and long nap on Saturday. Again, we were mistaken. Usually they nap from about 11:30/noon- 2:ooish. Well, Ethan finally fell asleep for a nap at 2:00, and Tenley...the poor little thing...she had an absolute sweaty crying screaming fit from exhaustion and finally fell asleep at 3:30ish. We woke Ethan at 3:30 and Tenley at 5:30 so they'd get some sleep that night, which they finally did (with a few minor hiccups). BUT they did have a lot of fun running and exploring at Oma's, and were good little troopers for the return trip. They were sure happy to be home though!

On another note, I didn't realize that I'd brought our camera until we were on the way home! Oops. So, here's some rest stop pictures as well as 2 other cute pictures from this past week for your enjoyment!

Lars was tired, so we decided to let Ethan drive for a while (actually, he spilled juice all over himself and needed a fresh outfit)

I like when a picture and the surroundings make the babies look small...I feel like they've gotten so big, so fast.

Ethan in the fresh outfit.

Tenley taking a bath with her new rubber ducky from Great Grandma (she also got a stuffed duck that she loves giving kisses to...and making others give kisses to it)

Ethan is in the process of putting his hands over his mouth and making fart sounds (apparently boys are born with this ability)

On another note: Lars has FINALLY worn me down and made me agree to cutting Ethan's hair to tame the "Curlhawk" I love his hair so much and think it's just too adorable for words...but we'll be giving it a trim (and ONLY a trim! !) on Saturday, June 5th (at 18 months old). I am keeping a lock (or 2 or 3) and promise that I will cry about it. I'll try to take pictures through the tears.
