15 Month Check-Up

The babies had their 15-month check up yesterday afternoon. Here they are enjoying the fish tank in the waiting area.

Here is Tenley getting weighed. I love that we have the same nurse every time, I should find out what her name is, she's really nice (and seems to actually feel sorry when she has to give them shots)

Here is Ethan getting weighed.

Here we're waiting for the doctor to come in and so we're playing with the chalkboard. They kind of figured out the scribbling thing (those are someone else's scribbles currently on the board though) Tenley put some chalk in her mouth, hey it's what they do...they're good at it.

Checking out the book "One Wooly Wombat" and still playing with the chalk (they're also multi-taskers)

You may notice that Tenley has 2 pieces of chalk, one for each hand. Ethan meanwhile is plotting their escape from the room to avoid getting shots!

Here are their stats...

Tenley-
Height: 29.8" (or 75.9 cm for those of you who prefer the metric system)
Weight: 19lb 8oz

The doctor isn't concerned with her size because she's right around the 5th percentile and they won't get concerned at all unless she falls below that level, but she's been there consistently since birth, so she's just a little girl. Dr. Runyon estimates that she'll be up to 5'4" (I'm only 5'1", so that works for me!)

Ethan-
Height: 31.22" (79.3cm)
Weight: 20lb 4oz

Ethan was tall for his age/weight as an infant, but has slowly tapered off and is now looking like he might be a bit on the short side (for a boy) maybe around 5'8". The Dr. said that there's a chance that he'll be a late bloomer though even though Lars wasn't...I was, so who knows. He's still skinny, but not as skinny as he was previously. The Dr. also commented that Ethan has very strong legs, he has visible thigh muscles, which apparently are still normally chubby fat rolls on most babies their age.

Dr. Runyon said that we should be looking forward to more tantrums from Tenley for at least a few more months (she hits herself in the face when she's frustrated) but now we know how to deal with it (acknowledge that she's upset and then ignore the tantrum). Ethan has bitten Lars once and me once but is very very sorry after he does it. The Dr. said that this behavior (being sorry) is very mature for his age, apparently empathy doesn't usually kick in this early. We're not happy that he has bitten us, but I am glad that at least he's handling it in a mature fashion! The Dr. asked if the babies have figured out how to get each other in trouble yet, which they have not done at all...so the doc suggested that they may skip this step and go straight to teaming up against their Mom and Dad! We look forward to that for sure (I'm rolling my eyes). Overall, we're very happy with this check-up.

  1. Your children are beautiful! Me and Dianna loved the teaming up part...Ours did the same. Twins are a lot of fun and enjoy them while their young. Can't wait to see them in person.
